Virgin Offers Sex Pistol Credit Cards

July 7, 2015

With their funky graphics, bright colours and now rock band images, these days credit cards are becoming more like collectors’ items rather than a simple way to pay for goods and services.

Virgin Offers Sex Pistol Credit Cards

The latest in credit card updates comes from Virgin Money with their announcement that their credit cards will now be emblazoned with album designs from the Sex Pistols!

Virgin has had a longstanding relationship with the Sex Pistols, with the band releasing their only studio album with Virgin back in 1977. The Sex Pistols went on to split up the following year after touring in the US, but Virgin is now continuing their relationship with the Sex Pistols, by featuring these cards, which are available now.

Director of Cards at Virgin Money, Michele Greene explains Virgin Money’s reasoning for the partnerships, stating that the: “Sex Pistols challenged convention and the established ways of thinking – just as we are doing today in our quest to shake up UK banking.” She added that it’s “time for consumers to put a little bit of rebellion in their pocket.”

If you’re interested in one of these cards, you’ll be able to enjoy either the single cover of “Anarchy in the UK” or the “Never Mind The Bollocks” album cover. In a unique move, Virgin Money has also shifted customer details to the back of the card which means the designs on the front are full and undisturbed.

Virgin Money have confirmed that they came to a set commercial arrangement with the band to have their album work presented on the credit cards. Despite John Lydon, the lead singer of the band stating that the group members still hated “each other with a vengeance”, it seems they have managed to put aside their differences for now, even if it is only because of the money they will receive as part of the deal!

In addition to the Sex Pistols, the credits cards will also feature artists such as Catfish and the Bottlemen, Bastille and Corinne Bailey Rae.

However, whether you’re a Sex Pistols fan or not, it is important, as when making any financial decision, to investigate the finer details, not just the graphical ones. With this in mind these credit cards come with a representative interest rate of 18.9pc. If that appeals to you, start the application process!
