FIS staff raise funds for Macmillan and smash their previous recordSeptember 16, 2014
Over £1,800 has been raised by staff at the head office of FIS Merchant Payments, the business that provides TRANSAX Merchant Services. In an annual charity fundraiser event for Macmillan, the FIS Team takes the Macmillan coffee morning concept, and stretches it over 2 days, morning ‘till night to raise funds for this excellent cause.
The event is managed by Jo Timbrell, who is assisted by Debbie Garrettley, both of whom work in the Key Accounts team at the FIS Merchant Payments HQ in Edgbaston, Birmingham. This year, the official Macmillan coffee morning takes place on Friday 26th September but was brought forward at FIS, to Monday 15th and Tuesday 16th September.
Jo’s family has been supported by Macmillan on many occasions and that is why she works so enthusiastically, raising funds for Macmillan year after year. “Our two day coffee morning and afternoons event has become something of a tradition at FIS” says Jo, “and I am totally overwhelmed by the help and support that we receive from our colleagues. I hope everybody can help Macmillan in some way this year, to help fund the vital services that they provide”.
A grand raffle saw prizes being donated by a range of local companies including Radisson Hotel Birmingham; Purnell’s Restaurant; Cineworld; Odeon; Starbucks; Snowdome Tamworth; Tiger Bills Restaurant; Boots (Edgbaston branch); Dudley Zoo; West Midlands Safari Park; Newhall Spa, Sutton Coldfield; Marco Pierre White, Birmingham and Valusys Ltd. FIS donated a flight for two from Birmingham Airport.
Already, Jo and Debbie have broken last year’s fund raising record at FIS by an extra £700. In fact, Jo has been so successful at raising money, that last year Macmillan recognised her as being their highest individual coffee morning fund raiser in the West Midlands region!
